I was browsing around the Distortions and Scare Factory websites earlier and was wondering what, if any, stunts could possibly be direct influences from Bill Tracy’s stunts. While most are dark and gory, there are a select few that are bizarre and “out there” which remind me of him. I wonder if the artistic minds behind these stunts have any knowledge of Tracy or refer to his concepts to help with their own?

Hmmm... Mabey a bit off-the-actual-topic, but... Both Scare Factory an Distortions are makers of modern bloody and dark stunts... Tracy made his stunts out of plaster, wood, chicken-wire, and clay. As much as this HH/Tracy oline community loves to point-out the undeniable brutality of these modern darkride stunts, may I point out that Tracy's stunts were not at all the cleanest of stunts of that time-frame. compared to pretzel stunts like the kicking-goat for instance, Tracy's stunts were on the morbid side of darkride lane. Look at this picture of the tourture chamber, and think a bit deeper on my coment. Mabey Distiortions an Scare Factory are not that diffrent from Tracy's stunt after-all.

Modern stunts are more gruesome than the ones Tracy created, but only because they are more realistic/life-like. A few of Tracy's stunts are just as brutal as the ones created today. How much more brutal can it get than Tracy's "old mill"? One thing, in my opinion, is for sure...no one will ever match Tracy's creativity when designing stunts or match the creativity in the exaggerated expressions of the characters within the stunts he created. He had a style all his own that will never be seen again.

If they aren't aware of it now, they will be by the end of March 2010, after the tradeshow.
